Waterford Training Provider Déise Training Is FETAC Accredited

Dungarvan based Training Provider, Déise Training has recently become accredited as a FETAC registered provider. This is a significant achievement for Déise Training and the locality as it means the centre can now offer programmes leading to FETAC awards in the National Framework of Qualifications. As the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland, the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) gives the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training centres, in the work place and in the community. To become an accredited FETAC training centre, Déise Training has worked hard to incorporate a comprehensive Quality Assurance System and has been thoroughly audited by a FETAC representative. It is a substantial achievement and testament to the Training Centre's adherence to quality.

Déise Training, based in the centrally located Plaza building at Dungarvan Shopping Centre, is West Waterford's only dedicated business training centre. The business has been in operation since June 2007 and is owned and run by Tracy Quinlan. Tracy says, "By offering FETAC awards we are creating opportunities for all learners to have their achievements recognised at a national level. We're looking forward to offering a wider range of courses with individual qualifications."

The first FETAC Accredited course run by the centre and completed in April was Computerised Accounts FETAC Level 3, and the package covered was SAGE. Tracy says, "SAGE is a popular Accounts system, with many employers in the area looking for both training and certification in this program. Employers are also looking for flexibility in staff to take on more responsibility within their position, and up-skilling and training is essential." Déise Training is currently running its second FETAC Course, Reception Level 5. This is being run in conjunction with the Local Employment Service. In September and into 2010, Déise Training plan on offering a wide range of FETAC accredited courses, split into the following areas:

• Microsoft Office Specialist
• Microsoft Certified Application Specialist

FETAC Business Courses:

• Manual & Computerised Accounts, Computerised Payroll

• General Office Skills
• IT and Childcare
• Spreadsheets, Word Processing
• Computer Architecture and Systems, Computer Networks, System Maintenance

FETAC Soft Skills Courses:

• Customer Care
• Marketing Practice
• Reception Course

• Pre-ECDL

• Sage Computerised Accounts
• CV Preparation and Interview Techniques
